Material Classes allow material to be placed into groups where each material is of a similar type. For example they could be grouped as follows:

1. Select the Master Data tab.
2. Click Material Class.
A list of the existing material classes is shown.
3. Click Add.
4. In the General tab, enter a name for the material class.
5. Enter a description in the default language.
6. Select the Properties tab.
7. Click Add.
8. Select a property from the drop-down list.
The Data Type, Weight and Default Unit of Measure are automatically filled in.
If required, select a different Unit of Measure.
9. Enter a value for the property.
10. Click OK.
Add any more properties that are required.
11. Click Save.
The material class is saved.
1. Select the Master Data tab.
2. Click Material Class.
3. Select a material class.
4. Click Edit.
5. In the General tab, enter a name for the material class.
6. Enter a description in the default language.
7. Select the Properties tab.
8. Modify an existing property or click Add.
9. Select a property from the drop-down list.
The Data Type, Weight and Default Unit of Measure are automatically filled in.
If required, select a different Unit of Measure.
10. Enter a value for the property.
11. Click OK.
12. Click Save.
The material class is updated.
1. Select the Master Data tab.
2. Click Material Class.
3. Select a material class.
4. Click Delete.
5. Click Yes to confirm.
The material class is deleted.
A material class cannot be deleted if it is associated to a material.
