Material Classes allow material to be placed into groups where each material is of a similar type. For example they could be grouped as follows:

Material Properties should be created before assigning to a Material Class. Properties within a Class must be unique.
Select the Master Data tab.
Click Material Class.
A list of the existing material classes is shown.
Click Add.
In the General tab, enter a name for the material class.
Enter a description in the default language.
Select the Properties tab.
Click Add.
Select a property from the drop-down list.
The Data Type, Weight and Default Unit of Measure are automatically filled in.
If required, select a different Unit of Measure.
Enter a value for the property.
Click OK.
Add any more properties that are required.
Click Save.
The material class is saved.
Select the Master Data tab.
Click Material Class.
Select a material class.
Click Edit.
In the General tab, enter a name for the material class.
Enter a description in the default language.
Select the Properties tab.
Modify an existing property or click Add.
Select a property from the drop-down list.
The Data Type, Weight and Default Unit of Measure are automatically filled in.
If required, select a different Unit of Measure.
Enter a value for the property.
Click OK.
Click Save.
The material class is updated.
Select the Master Data tab.
Click Material Class.
Select a material class.
Click Delete.
Click Yes to confirm.
The material class is deleted.
A material class cannot be deleted if it is associated to a material.
