Writing an Instruction

This example demonstrates the process of writing an instruction for a Header. Writing instructions for your headers may be significantly different.

1.     Expand the header to reveal the blank instructions. Blank instructions are indicated by the word 'Undefined'.

2.     Double click on the first blank instruction. The Instruction Bar will appear below the tree.

3.     Select Mark from the Undefined menu. Notice that by selecting Mark you have begun writing your instruction.

4.     To the right of the words "Mark the", another  menu appears. Each consecutive menu will contain choices which are determined by your previous menu selection. Select current position as begin.

5.     Click the Commit button.

6.     The first instruction in the Header tree will now show the text of the instruction.

7.     Click on the next blank instruction in the header tree. Select Search for, then next, then string from the first three menus.

8.     Enter the text you wish to DataSmith to search for, in our example we are using "MEASUREMENT START". Click the Commit button. The text of the instruction will appear in the header tree.

9.     Click on the next blank instruction in the header tree. Select Mark from the first menu. Select current position as end from the next menu. Click the Commit button. The text of the instruction will appear in the header tree.

10.  In the Document Region the header will be highlighted in blue.
