Patching an Installation

A patch is done when there is a minor version change, such as going from v19.1 to v19.2. Typically, a patch includes new versions of the main CM4D applications. On rare occasions a patch might include a database Schema update, although these are usually reserved for major version releases.

Notice
If there is a major version change, such as going from v16.5 to v19.1, an installation would then need to be Upgraded.

The procedure for applying a patch to a CM4D installation is similar for both the Enterprise and Client installation packages.

Applying a Patch

To apply a version Patch to a CM4D Installation, follow this general guideline:

1.     For Enterprise installations only:

a.     Stop your CM4D Services and COM+ Components.

b.     If the installation being patched is licensed as a Floating License Server, run StopServer.exe from the install folder.

2.     For Enterprise or Client installations:

a.     Obtain the files for the patch that you want to apply.

b.     Unzip the executables.

c.      Copy the executables to the CM4D installation directory.

d.     Overwrite the existing CM4D executables with the ones provided in the patch.

e.     If the patch includes a database Schema update, see the topic Upgrading a Database Schema. If you are required to update the database Schema, the necessary scripts will be included with the patch.
