Tutorial Overview

The Layout Manager module is a design and layout program for customizing the appearance of screens used at the Inspect stations. The system administrator can create templates, comprised of layouts, to control the colors, sizes, fonts and placements of every screen.

Layouts contain controls which are the buttons and fields that inspectors use to record and display information.

The controls are grouped together in control groups to allow them to be moved and re-sized more easily. Control groups generally contain controls that are related to specific operations.

The image below illustrates these different components.

In this tutorial you will use all the main features of Layout Manager. Using a bicycle manufacturing plant as an example you will create the interface that will be used by an operator to enter defects into the system.

The interface will use the following screens:

o       Main screen

o       Login screen

o       Defect screen

o       Goto Next Batch Unit screen

For this tutorial, a standard Login and Defect screen can be used.

For the other screens the following steps must be carried out:

For the Main screen:

1.     Create a new layout

2.     Add control groups to layout

3.     Add controls to control groups

4.     Move and resize control groups

5.     Customize appearance of controls

For the Product Selection screen:

6.     Create layout and controls

7.     Add product names using a Stored Procedure

For all screens:

8.     Save layouts in a template

9.     Assign template to a station
