A Unit of Measure (UoM) is required when specifying a Characteristic so that statistical data can be calculated.
It is also possible to associate different Units of Measure to each other (eg. 100cm = 1m).
In this tutorial we will enter the following UoMs.
Name |
Abbreviation |
Equivalent |
Kilogram | kg | 1000 g |
Gram | g | .001 kg |
Inch | in | 2.54 cm |
Centimeter | cm | 0.3937 in |
To define UoMs carry out the following steps:
1. Select the Variable tab.
2. Click Unit of Measure.
A list of the existing UoMs is displayed.
3. Click the add icon ().
4. In the Description field enter Centimeter.
5. In the Abbreviation field enter cm.
6. Click OK.
You can now enter a second UoM that can be related to Centimeter. In this case, Inch.
7. Click the add icon () to add another UoM.
8. In the Description field enter Inch.
9. In the Abbreviation field enter in.
10. Type 2.54 in the Conversion field for Centimeter.
This means that there are 2.54 centimeters for every inch.
11. Click OK.
The UoM is added to the list. The conversion from centimeter will be carried out automatically.
