Although equipment classes are not currently used in reporting and analysis in the future they will be used to keep compatibility with ISO/IEC 62264 (aka ISA 95).
Equipment Classes allow equipment to be placed into groups where each item is of a similar type. For example they could be grouped as follows:

Equipment Classes can be added as follows:
1. Select the Equipment and Downtime tab.
2. Click Equipment Classes.
A list of the existing Equipment Classes is displayed.
3. Click the add icon ().
4. Enter a name.
5. Select an Equipment Level from the drop-down list. This can be Area, Cell or Unit.
6. Enter a description in each necessary language.
7. Click OK.
The Equipment Class is added to the list.
Existing items can be edited by clicking or deleted by clicking .
