Why is ATS Intelligence Needed?

Manufacturing Intelligence and the calculation of metrics are playing an ever increasing part in the performance of manufacturing companies. These days every company can transform collected data into useful information that shows what’s happening on a day to day basis.

However, to gain the edge on the competition you must then use that information to generate usable Manufacturing Intelligence that can be relied upon to guide both short-term and long-term strategic decisions. This is where ATS Intelligence can make the difference.

What Does It Do?

ATS Intelligence allows you to collect data to calculate and report the OEE within a manufacturing process. In order to do this it collects and analyses the following data:

The amount of product being manufactured.

The machine or process manufacturing the product.

The equipment's optimum rate of production.

The reasons for downtime for a piece of equipment.

       Variable data from the equipment.

Up-to-the-minute reports can then be generated remotely for all of this data using ATS Reporting Services.

How Data is Collected

Data can be collected either manually or automatically:

Manually: Operator enters amounts, times and materials of production runs as well as times and reasons for downtime.

Automatically: Production counts and downtime information is collected from machines automatically via OPC connections or xml files.

Overview of Applications

ATS Intelligence consists of five main applications with ATS Advanced Reporting Services (ARS) used to provide reporting and analysis. These applications are described in the graphic and text below:

Cockpit

Before an operator can start entering data the system must be populated with the right information such as units of measure, materials and equipment. This can all be done in Cockpit. The system can be configured for both manual and automatic data entry.

Form Composer

The Form Composer application is a design and layout program for customizing the appearance of screens that are shown to the end user. Using Form Composer you can control the colors, size, fonts and placement of every ATS Intelligence screen as well as what buttons, controls and information are included in the screens.

Security Manager

The Security Manager application allows you to configure users, security rights and database table auditing.

Data Collect

Manual: During production the operator can record the number of units produced, both good and scrap, as well as the downtime on any piece of equipment.

Automatic: Data Collect can be used during automatic data collection to review and modify the recorded data.

Monitor

This application allows you to view the values being received through the OPC and XML data connections setup in Cockpit.

ATS Reporting Services

ATS Intelligence reports are generated using ATS Advanced Reporting Services (ARS) which must be purchased separately. For a full description of how to use ATS ARS please refer to the ATS ARS documentation (see here).
