Areas and Messages

The Alerts + Messages function allows user to manage alert messages and associate them to areas in which they can appear.  For example, on an assembly line in an automotive plant,  a part shortage may result in a vehicle being assembled without its rear brakes being fitted.  The user wants to inform other operators to prevent accident and/or injury and selects the message of “Unit is missing rear brakes”.  

To create an alert message.

Open Cockpit and select the Data Entry tab.

Click Alerts + Messages.  The Area/Alert Messages tab appears.

Click the Add button () below the right-hand pane.

Enter the message in to the Description field.

Enter a unique code in the Code field or tick the Sync Code to Description checkbox.

Press OK.

Drag the message from the right hand pane to the required Area in the left hand pane.

The messages can now be selected by a user at Data Collect stations in the Area that the message has been assigned.

If the user that entered the message selected the Show option, an Alert Message window will be displayed containing the assigned Alert message when the unit is opened in Data Collect. If the Hide option was selected, the window will not appear but is still visible in the Alert Messages window.

To view Alert Messages in Data Collect, the Manage Alerts control must be added to the Main form in Form Composer.  For further information on the control, please click here
