A tutorial is available for Data Collect. See here.
The Data Collect module is used to enter and track quality concerns (and repair data). Data Collect can be run on a handheld data collection device or on a stationary PC workstation. Handheld devices are useful for roving data collection, whereas stationary workstations are used at fixed data inspection locations. In either case, operators can enter quality concerns for a part (including the type and the severity of concern) and then evaluate the concern and assign it for repair.
Data Collect uses touch-screen technology to input data. On a handheld device the operator can use a pen to "touch" the screen for entering quality concerns. If using a stationary PC with touch screen capability, the operator can either touch the screen or use a mouse to enter defect data.
Quality data entered using Data Collect is immediately stored in a database for analysis. Over 70 real-time data reports may be generated using the Reporting application, including trend charts, pareto charts, bar charts, tables and graphical scatter plots.
Flash Reports are also available. They provide data collection feedback for the operator as he is carrying out an inspection.
If your company's implementation of Inspect includes the Event Service application, quality information collected with Data Collect may also be used to send system notifications and trigger other events.
In order to correctly use Data Collect there are a few steps that must be carried out in other programs before and after:
1. Layout Manager: Create the required layouts, that will be presented to the operator. See Layout Manager Overview.
2. Admin: Setup a station to work with Data Collect. See Setting Up Inspection Stations.
3. Cockpit: Setup the inspection steps, views, products and parts. See Inspection Overview.
Data Collect can then be used as follows:
4. Login to your data collection station.
5. Select a production unit to check.
6. Enter any defects that are found.
Once the Data Collect actions have been performed the results can be reviewed:
7. Reporting: Generate reports for data analysis.
