Layout Manager Overview

The Layout Manager module is a design and layout program for customizing the appearance of screens used at the Inspect stations. The system administrator can create templates, comprised of layouts, to control the colors, sizes, fonts and placements of every screen.

Layouts contain controls which are the buttons and fields that inspectors use to record and display information.

The controls are grouped together in control groups to allow them to be moved and re-sized more easily. Control groups generally contain controls that are related to specific operations.

The image below illustrates these different components.

Using Layout Manager

Creating Data Collect layouts for inspectors involves the following main steps:

Step 1 - Choose the type of layout you want to create (see Creating a Layout).

Step 2 - Add the control groups and controls that you want displayed in the layout (see Creating New Control Groups and Controls).

Step 3 - Modify the appearance of the controls/control groups and specifying the behavior and operations you want for them (see Customizing the Appearance of Controls and Editing Common Control Properties).

Step 4 - Save layouts in a template (see Saving Layouts in a Template).

Step 5 - Assign templates to stations (see Assigning Templates to a Station).
