Subgroup of two or more Samples of a process is used by CM4D to calculate statistics. Within a DataSet row (process), Samples are grouped based on the associated Routine's Subgroup size setting. A routine is associated to a DataSet from the DataSet’s DataSource property. The subgroup size of a DataSet can be set by opening the DataSet Properties dialog Statistics tab and selecting one of the Subgroup radio button options. Enter a value in the Maximum Subgroup Size field.

A DataSet will form subgroups based on the usage that is specified when the DataSet is created or edited. For any usage that includes moving range or moving average, the subgroup size will automatically be two. For all other usage types, subgroups will be formed in a sequential non-overlapping manner (i.e. columns 1-5, 6-10, 11-15…).

CM4D will calculate and maintain statistical and summary values for subgroups.

Displaying Subgroup Data

The data for each subgroup can be easily displayed below a graph. Functions include displaying subgroup data on a chart, calculate subgroup stats, and display raw data for a subgroup.

On the Graph tab of the Annot Properties dialog, select the Show Table check box. Then, when the graph is in edit mode, open the table properties dialog and modify the Show DataSet Setup dialog to customize the table of charted values.

Subgroups in Results Database

If you have subgroups, these subgroups are fixed; calculations in Peruse versus Classic may differ since subgroups in Classic are calculated as the Samples are loaded.

Subgroups in Classic

Calculations are done on the fly - values immediately reflect any changes as a result of modifying the loaded Samples.

Subgroups in Peruse

Calculations are done on generation of Results data - values reflect the data state at the time the Samples are put into the Results database.

Subgroup Settings and Exceptions

Subgroup settings for the Results database are managed in the CM4D Config plugin.
