A build group is any set of production units that share a unique property or characteristic that may need specific quality checks. Creating build groups allows you to track quality for special sets of units. Build groups are also known as launch builds.
Create new build groups when an assembly plant wants to track quality data on newer products. The build groups can be viewed separately in the reports. Some examples of a build group may include:
Units that have new or improved features that must have their quality data separated from regular production.
Units that are "special builds" intended for a specific client or country.
Pre-launch or prototype units and new model year units that are run before the actual model year's release.
Select the Products tab.
Click Build Groups.
A list of the existing build groups is displayed.
Click the add icon ().
Select the Description field for the default language.
Enter a description and code for the build group.
Click OK.
The new build group is displayed in the build groups list.
Units are assigned to Build Groups when the unit information is received from an external system. Build Groups may also be manually assigned by modifying the unit properties. See here.
Build Groups can be imported from a spreadsheet by clicking the Import button (). The description must be in the first column and the code must be in the second column.
There is no header row.
