View Defaults allow the Data Collect operator to dynamically create the list of concerns that are associated to parts.

When the operator clicks on a component they're shown the full list of concerns contained in concern folders that have been associated to the view default. The concerns that are selected the most for a specific part are shown further up the list the more it's selected. Eventually, an administrator can modify the list so that it only contains concerns that have been associated with that part.

The operator cannot repair defects created in this way until a part/concern/repair relationship has been created in Cockpit.

The default rank and responsible area are also specified. These will be selected automatically for all the concerns.

Create View Defaults in Cockpit

Select the Products tab.

Click View Defaults.

The View Defaults dialog opens.

Click the Add button.

Select a View from the drop-down list at the top. The list will only contain views that haven't had a view default assigned to them yet.

Enable one or more Concern Folders to be used. The concerns in the selected folders will be available to the operator entering defects.

Select a default Responsible Area/Cell and Rank from the drop-down lists at the bottom. These are only defaults and can be changed by the operator entering the defects.

The Active checkbox is automatically enabled. When the view default is no longer needed this will need to be disabled.

Click OK.

Any concern folders assigned to the Data Collect station will be ignored while view defaults are used. The operator will be able to select from all the concerns within the concern folders selected here.

Creating Part/Concern Associations in Data Collect at Runtime

The associations are created by the operator in Data Collect. When they create a defect they're presented with all of the concerns contained in the selected folders. When they then select a concern an association is created between that part and concern.

Creating the Final List of Concerns to Associate to the Part

When enough part/concern relationships have been created you can modify the list of concerns that will be presented to the operator as follows:

Select the Products tab.

Click View Defaults.

The View Defaults window opens.

Open the view default that is no longer needed.

Disable the Active checkbox in the bottom-left corner of the dialog box.

Click OK to save the view default.

Modify the part/concern relationships that have been created and add repair and other information (see here).

The operator in Data Collect will now be presented with a limited list of concerns when creating a defect. They will also be able to repair the defects that have already been created.
